EMI General Education Honors Program
Program Description
The EMI General Education Honors Program is composed of an enriched, interdisciplinary general education curriculum taken primarily during students’ first, second, and third year at the university known as the “EMI General Education Honors Core Curriculum.” All of the Honors courses have been designed especially for the Honors Program by experienced faculty who teach them using English as a medium of instruction. In the program students are introduced to major themes, issues, and methods of inquiry across disciplines through which students develop and sharpen their reading, writing, scientific, analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills. The Honors Colloquia are designed for students to share research and learning outcomes, in addition to enhancing presentation skills. The Honors Service-learning provides students with opportunities to put English communication skills into practice, develop global views, and establish professional network in conjunction with acquiring pre-career skills.

Admission Criteria
All NSYSU students with high academic motivations and promise have the opportunity to participate in the EMI General Education Honors Program. Students in all degree-granting majors and professional programs, as well as undeclared majors, are eligible to apply. There are two different pathways for students to join the EMI General Education Honors program :
- All the undergraduate students in the EMI programs .
- Undergraduate students from other programs (or transfer students from other accredited institutions) with intermediate English proficiency or above.

Program Curriculum
EMI General Education Honors Program Core Curriculum (16 credits)
(9 credits compulsory, 6 credits elective,1credit service learning)
The EMI General Education Honors Core Curriculum satisfies a portion of the university general education requirements through specially designed interdisciplinary courses. The Honors Core Curriculum is comprised of the following two components:
An enriched, interdisciplinary general education curriculum taken primarily during students’ first, second, and third year at the university (known as the EMI General Education Honors Program Core Curriculum). The Core Curriculum is comprised of a total of 16 credits in the following three components: Core Courses (9 credits), Electives (6 credits), and Honors Service-learning (1 credit).
Complete Honors Service-learning (1 credit) to enhance English communication skills, develop global views, establish professional network, and acquire pre-career skills.
Application Dates and Procedures
The application for this program is made in accordance with the dates specified in the school calendar.
Please follow the procedure of application announced by the Office of Academic Affairs for approval.
